Saint Louis Community, one of the oldest communities in the heart's of Bangkok

Among the highest building in Business District, Sathorn. There is a hidden community where is only some local people known its old name; Saint Louis Community. This community is obviously represent mix cultures of Thai, Chinese and European culture, also being a commercial area from the past until now.
Do you wonder about its name? Why the community name sounds not like a Thai community?
Let's get back to 1898, Jean Louis Vey, a French catholic priest, had come to Siam (Siam is the old name of Thailand) as missionary, and his position is Vicar Apostolic of Eastern Siam. By his coming, he was not only evangelism, he was also in charge to manage hospital where is currently Saint Louis Hospital, named from the name of Saint Jean Louis Vey.
According to his duty, he moved cardinal residence from Assumption Cathedral to near Saint Louis Hospital, and then St. Louis Church was built from his observation due to this area had many Christians but there was no church for worship. St. Louis Church was opened in 1900 and currently still use for worship.
This is an answer why named "Saint Louis Community".
